RADIO PROGRAMME PRODUCTION
African Media Association Malta is seeking the services of radio programme production. In the context of the EU-funded project, ‘Empower to Integrate’, we will be producing a radio programme on migrant integration in Malta. Our vision is to interview migrants alongside a Maltese academic and/or professional so that the migrants’ voices can be heard from their own perspective. The successful company will liaise with the Project Coordinator and the Project Lead Strategist.

Programme description: Thirteen (13) episodes of thirty (30) minutes each.
Contract Type: Twelve (12) months for the production of thirteen (13) episodes, with a possibility of extension for another two (2) years with thirteen (13) additional episodes in each year.

WHAT DO WE NEED FROM YOU?

to provide the services of a technician and postproduction team for the entirety of the programme

to regularly promote each programme on your radio station’s social media pages

to provide a ‘brought to you by’ introduction at the beginning and end of each programme
-
to upload the programmes on the radio station’s website as a webcast
-
to recognise that the outcome of each program is deemed to help strengthen collaborative cooperation between migrant and local communities
-
the programmes’ primary language will be ENGLISH, with the possibility of use of the Maltese language

WHAT DO WE NEED FROM YOU?
-conduct research and communicate with migrants/asylum seekers especially those of African origin regarding radio interviews and dates.
-communicate with interviewed persons in relation to the recruitment drive for the Project.
-liaise with Podcast production team and assist with setting up dates for the radio interviews whilst maintaining absolute confidentiality.
-liaise with relevant stakeholders to ensure the effective implementation of project activities and perform duties s/he may be assigned.
-create themes and topics for the radio interviews as well as the telephone script and email templates required for the Project.
-create spreadsheets, word documents, attend to filing and processing of records accurately and assist in inventory control of office supplies.
-provide an effective and efficient supportive role to the NGO with available resources, finding solutions and timely giving feedback.
-manage correspondence by answering emails, sorting and flagging emails, answering phone calls and transferring to relevant team members.
-upload designated text and logos on the African Media website and social media profiles.
-attend workshops, conferences, meetings (face to face or online) and take minutes.

REQUIREMENTS FOR THE ROLE
We are currently seeking to recruit a Project Communications Strategist. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing support and contributing to the Empower Integrate project and radio program and its implementation in Malta. They will be under the direct supervision of the Project Coordinator and will also be assigned tasks by the Project Lead Strategist as they support the Project’s activities.
Appointment will be subject to local recruitment. Only persons holding a valid residence and work permit for Malta will be eligible for consideration.
CORE FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES
-fluency in English (both written and spoken), communication, presentation and networking skills.
-to speak one of the official’s languages of the UN and any of the African languages and be conversant of the entire continent as our main objective and mission is to provide correct information related to Africa and counter the false narratives.
-proficiency in computer skills, specifically hands-on experience in usage of MS Office. (Word, PowerPoint and Excel, etc).
-good reporting skills, data entry skills, inventory control and documentation is a must.
-must be willing to work in a humanitarian background, able to think proactively and think of quick solutions.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
-professional experience with international organizations or non-governmental organizations, or governmental entities, working in the field of migration or with vulnerable populations would be considered an asset.
-knowledge of recent developments in the Mediterranean and recent global migration trends and confirmed interest in migration and development issues.
-training in project implementation and experience in the usage of office information analysis and report writing.

-assist with project implementation including the recruitment strategy, the selection process and the interviewing process with the Project Coordinator.
